Chelsea
Chelsea is home to many writers and artists, and more recently, a wealthy gay population. There are art galleries, antique stores, cafes, unique shops, and bars in the renovated warehouses, as well as loft-style residences. Madison Square Garden is on the northern border of Chelsea, and the neighborhood is also home to the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Chelsea Piers sports complex.
Greenwich Village
Greenwich Village is still a popular place for celebrities, families, and NYU students, especially in Washington Square Park. In the Village along the tree-lined streets, there are plenty of cafes, small neighborhood bars, stylish shops, and off-Broadway theaters.
Lower Manhattan
Lower Manhattan is where you will find what is now known as Ground Zero, former site of the World Trade Center. Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange are also in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan. At the southern tip of Manhattan is Battery Park, the point of departure for the Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island.
Midtown East
East of Fifth Avenue, near Central Park, there are elegant hotels, haute-couture boutiques, and upscale department stores like Tiffany & Company, FAO Schwartz, and Saks. Madison Avenue has fine shopping at more affordable prices. Midtown East is a popular tourist area with attractions like the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, and the United Nations.
Midtown West
Times Square is located in Midtown West where Broadway and 7th Avenue intersect. This popular tourist area also includes the famed Theater District that runs along both sides of Broadway from Times Square to 47th Street. West of Fifth Avenue, you will also find Madison Square Garden, the Rockefeller Center, Carnegie Hall, and hotels in all price ranges. This neighborhood also has some of the finest restaurants in the city.
New York

Soho
SoHo means South of Houston Street, the location of this refurbished former-warehouse district. Artists love the SoHo neighborhood for the lighting in the great warehouse-turned-loft-style apartments. This fashionable neighborhood boasts many art galleries, chic boutiques, great ethnic restaurants.
Upper East Side
The Upper East Side has some of the most expensive real estate in the world. It is a very sophisticated neighborhood with luxurious hotels, swanky restaurants, and Museum Mile, which includes the famed Metropolitan museum of Art.
Upper West Side
Located on the west side of Central Park, the Upper West Side is home to celebrities that live in apartments along the park, and many upscale young professionals. Along Broadway, which winds through the center of the Upper West Side, you will find mid-priced hotels, chic shops, multiplex theaters, and the Lincoln Center. This neighborhood is also home to the American Museum of Natural History, the Children's Museum of Manhattan, and Riverside Park.
